Mahatma’s round rimmed spectacles back to India : Thanks Vijay Mallya

Mallya happy to bring Gandhi’s heritage back to India

Indian liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya is very pleased with his purchase of a set of Mahatma Gandhi’s personal belongings including his iconic round-rimmed spectacles as he is bringing the national heritage home.

Vijay Mallya does it again !!! First he bought Tippu Sultan’s sword, then the Spyker F1 team (not a national heritage, I’m sure it made a lot of Indians proud), and now Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic spectacles.

Let me put down my views on the brouhaha over the auctioning of Mahatma’s belongings, and the Indian Govt’s reaction.

All efforts on to get Gandhi items back: Govt-India

Mahatma Gandhi is the father of our the nation. No matter where the iconic watch, metal rimmed glasses, bowl or his pair of sandals are, he will still be the father of our nation. I wonder if Mahatma Gandhi would have minded to part away from his sandals, round rimmed glasses or his blood report.

Its the ideals that Mahatma Gandhi, that we must cherish. The ideals are the ones that has to be kept close to heart and follow it the best we can. Not bother about his belongings.

The argument is that, it is our national heritage. There is no question about it, it is. However at this point in time aren’t there more important things the Government needs to look into ? Instead of doing “whatever it takes” to prevent the auctioning of Gandhi’s belongings.

Think of it this way, this might help spreading Mahatma’s ideals.

We need to stop harping about all such silly issues and start working on the serious ones. Lets all follow the ideals of Gandhi, work towards realizing his vision for India, rather than fighting for his belongings.

Hats off Mr Mallya…
